Amy – Customer Centre Performance Coach



So I started my journey with Virgin as a Trading Delivery Apprentice for Virgin Holidays, as an 18 year old who had just finished Sixth Form this was such an exciting opportunity for me. I learnt so much about the business and administration for sales channels and it really set me up for my future at Virgin Holidays…and if that wasn’t enough I even got to travel lots!

After a year of completing my apprenticeship and gaining a Level 2 Business Diploma I then became a Trading Delivery Coordinator where I was a key support to all staff communications, training and engagement activity. Like any role at Virgin there is always a progression available so after a year of being a coordinator I was then promoted to an Executive which was a huge thing for me, I gained so much experience, was given many responsibilities and I was exposed to so many new departments which was great.

After 3 years of working in our Trading Delivery team and working with new departments, I learnt that I absolutely loved helping develop people and training. I was therefore excited to learn that a secondment opportunity had become available in our Customer Centre as a ‘Performance and Quality Coach’ which I was offered for 12 months. A year later and I have been made permanent, proving that taking a shorter term opportunity can lead to long term positions, you have to just take the chance on something new.

When I look back on my career with Virgin Holidays, it has been such an exciting journey and I have learnt so much, my experiences have helped me to learn exactly where I want to be and I know I am surrounded by great people who support me which is fantastic.


Working culture at Virgin Holidays

The working environment and culture at Virgin Holidays is amazing, if you are the kind of person who is engaged and wanting to do well then the company will do everything it can to support you. The people who work at Virgin are all very like-minded and are all very passionate about what they do. I have always felt that if you are keen to progress and want to gain specific skills then the managers will always support you and help guide you to where you want to be.


Opportunities at Virgin Holidays

There are so many different career opportunities at Virgin Holidays, take my career for example, I would never have had the chance to experience coaching and people development if it wasn’t for my secondment opportunity. There are so many people who are in management positions who started in trainee positions or similar and now they are either Destination Managers or Heads of departments so it’s great to see people who really have really grown within the company.


What’s the best piece of advice you would give somebody applying to work in our Customer Centre?

My biggest piece of advice would be to be open minded and be open to any opportunities thrown your way. When you join the Virgin family you will meet so many different people and I would advise speaking to as many people and ask them about their journey, because you will hear all different career paths that may even inspire you and your journey here at Virgin Holidays. In our Customer Centre we have so many people on hand to support you so don’t ever feel afraid to ask a question because that is what we are here for!
